Our mission
To empower consumers with the knowledge, tools and resources needed to understand credit, strengthen their financial position and make informed purchasing decisions.
Whether you’re buying a vehicle, buying a home, financing a major expense or establishing credit for the first time, better financial decisions begin with better understanding.

Meet Aaron Looney
Founder, automotive finance professional and consumer credit educator
With more than 26 years of experience in the automotive industry, Aaron Looney has developed extensive firsthand knowledge of consumer lending, credit evaluations, financing structures and the role credit plays in purchasing decisions.
That experience has given him valuable insight into how lenders evaluate creditworthiness, and how consumers can better prepare themselves for financial opportunities.
Aaron founded ToolsForCredit.com on a simple principle: everyone deserves access to clear, practical information that helps them make smarter financial decisions. His goal is to make credit education easier to understand, so people can approach borrowing and purchasing with greater knowledge and confidence.
Credit isn’t the goal. It’s a tool.
When it’s understood and managed responsibly, credit helps create opportunities. That philosophy shapes everything on this site: less about chasing a number, more about what your credit lets you do.
What we cover
Five areas, built around the connection between credit, purchasing power and financial opportunity.
- Understand your credit. Credit scores, reports, utilization and credit history.
- Build and improve credit. Responsible habits, rebuilding credit and correcting reporting errors.
- Your purchasing power. How credit affects buying homes, vehicles and other major purchases.
- Borrowing smarter. Interest rates, loan terms, financing costs and lender requirements.
- Tools and resources. Calculators, guides and trusted financial resources.
How we create content
Guides are written in plain English and checked against authoritative sources, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission and the credit bureaus. Where we draw on firsthand automotive finance experience, we say so. Topics outside that experience are carefully researched and sourced.
Every page shows when it was last reviewed, and we re-check facts, links and phone numbers on a regular schedule. Spot something out of date? Email hello@toolsforcredit.com.
ToolsForCredit is independent. We’re not a lender, credit bureau or credit repair company, and we don’t sell products.
